Short Story

short  story
Sand and Stone

Ikhwan and Arif were walking through the desert. During the journey, they had an argument and Ikhwan slapped Arif on the face. Arif was hurt, but he said nothing and wrote on the sand “TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SLAPPED ME ON THE FACE”.

They kept on walking and finally found an oasis. They decided to have a bath. Suddenly, Arif slipped on moss, hit his head and started drowning, but Ikhwan saved him. After Arif gained his consciousness, he carved on a stone: “TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SAVED MY LIFE”.

Ikhwan asked Arif, “After I slapped you, you wrote on the sand an now, you carved it on a stone. Why?”

Arif replied, “When someone hurts us, we should write it down on sand where winds of forgiveness would blow it away and when someone does something good for us, we must engrave it on stone where winds can never erase it."

Dear readers, after you read the story, what can you learn ?

"Forgive people and remember one's kindness."
